'Matches', it's personal

"The matchstick of our love was small yet mighty. It could’ve started fires. Lit eternal flames. We had endless possibilities. But matches burn out, almost as quickly as they light. And so did we."

My Sister's Summer

Laila, a young West Indian girl, lives a normal life until her older sister, Anya, becomes sick. What starts out as general symptoms quickly morphs into the impossible when Anya transforms into a flower. Over the course of the summer Laila and her family navigate Anya's physiological changes whilst trying to maintain a sense of normality. Through Laila, we are met with childlike innocence that illustrates how deep a sister's love can be. Trigger Warnings: Grief and Terminal Illness
